Responding
to the invitation of Fr. Claudio to visit Plovdiv on the occasion of the
55th anniversary of the death of Frs. Kamen, Pavel and Josaphat, we left
Margineni Friday 9 November at 7 AM, passing through Bucharest to have
lunch and to pick up Fr. Iosif. At 9 PM we arrived in Plovdiv where Frs.
Claudio and Daniel awaited us.
The following morning we went to visit the fortress in Asenovgrad Krepost
and the 13th century church.
Shortly thereafter we arrived at the monastery of Batchkovo, while it was
raining cats and dogs, just able to get a quick glance.
In the afternoon Fr. Giuliano Riccadonna gave us a meditation on " the
martyrs of yesterday and today", a reflection together with our Oblate
Sisters which continued the next day.
Sunday's Divine Liturgy was the highlight of the day, with the veneration
of the icon of the Martyrs, a visit to the statue of Fr. Kamen near the
Catholic cathedral and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at the end of
the day.
Monday morning we set out for Romania. For our young people Aline, Aurel,
Marian and Paul it was their first visit abroad. They came back
enthusiastic ! ! !
Many thanks, Claudio and Daniel, for your generous hospitality.
May our Martyrs Kamen, Pavel and Josaphat watch over our Mission in
Eastern Europe !
